I have long moaned about Microsofts email application and have long held the view that chiselling your messages on a slate tablet and physically carrying them to their intended recipient would be preferable to using Outlook.
(the application not the email address)
Apple mail is much better, but it is not without its quirks and there are a couple that are raising their ugly heads lately .
Thankfully none are severe or permanent.
The most common of these is the Inbox is empty and it has nothing to do with you being efficient. In fact, you can still see them on your iPhone or iPad.
Nine times out of ten this is because at some stage a slip of the mouse has clicked on the Filter button and this can hide all READ emails…making your Inbox look empty.
So, if the inbox is empty and you know there should be email in it, look for this icon…

… and if its blue, click on it.

The other issue is folders (or as Apple mail confusingly calls them, Mailboxes) disappear…seemingly overnight and without a trace.
Well, in typical Apple fashion, the solution won’t appear until you think to waft over the affected area with your cursor.
The list of folders down the left hand side are under various headings; On My Mac, Gmail, Bigpond, etc. If you hover over to the right of these headings (that used to have all your mail folders beneath them) you will see a “>” appear. Clicking on this will reveal all your folders.

Yes, Mail can be a bit odd and can be a bit form over function but its nothing compared to Outlook.app that would, if it were a family car, spontaneously eject its occupants onto the road, morph into a semi trailer and then explode for no reason.
