Hand on my heart I am not having battery issues with my iPhone 4S or iPhone 4. But there is a lot of yelling and blogging going on so I guess something must be up.
In the months and weeks since the 4S was released there have been a number of hints surface claiming to improve battery life. I have done most – if not all – of these so maybe thats why I can enjoy my phone all day?
In any event it can’t hurt to try some of these at least.
Reset Network settings
- Tap on Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Reset Settings
- Tap on Reset Network Settings
- Type in your Passcode (if any)
From here you will need to re-enter any wireless passwords.
Turn off Location based Services – that you don’t need
- Tap on Settings
- Tap on Location Services
- Slide off any service that wants your location data but doesn’t really need it. For example, the game Flight Control doesn’t need to know where I am for me to enjoy it – so that gets turned off. Navfree on the other hand (GPS navigator) would be fairly useless if it didn’t know where I was.
System Services
While in Location Services, scroll to the end of the list and tap on System Services and turn off Time Zone Settings and Location-Based iAds
Turn off Diagnostics
- Tap on Settings
- Tap on About
- Tap on Diagnostic & Usage
- Tap on Don’t Send
Turn off Raise to speak (If you have an iPhone 4S)
- Tap on Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Siri
- Turn off Raise to Speak
Condition the battery
It is also recommended by many people in the battery industry that you condition your battery at least once a month. My habit is, at the end of the month, I allow my iPhone to die completely and then recharge it fully.
One last thing. I have found a lot of use for a cheap little application called Boost Magic, it seems to work wonders!
